Private Buyers vs. Retail suppliers

Posted by ghost_soul in , , ,

So you're making some gold in WoW whether by hand farming or botting, and now you're wanting to make a little real life cash. Now you just have to find a buyer. There are two types of buyers in the world of RMT. Your Private Buyers and your Retail Suppliers.

Private Buyers are buyers whom contact you either from a post on a popular RMT message board like Markeedragon.com or people who've found out you're a gold seller in some way or another (you've sold gold to a guild member who tells a friend etc...). Generally these types of buyers pay more for the gold than a Retail supplier will, but along with that comes as the popular song say's "mo' money mo' problems". That is to say that many private buyers will take longer to sell to because of conflicting schedules, fear of being scammed, or general asshatadness. You will also find more than your fair share of scammers who will either try to scam your gold from you without paying, or initiate a claim with PayPal and cause a chargeback, thus getting your gold, and their money back.

This is not to say that you should avoid selling to private buyers. You just have to familiarize yourself with the scams that are out there and protect yourself. Keep AIMlogs and record any voice conversations. Keep screenshots, especially of the trade itself, hell you could even FRAPs it. Another way you can keep yourself safe is by getting TrustWho verified (a service of Markeedragon) and trading only with other TrustWho verified persons. In a nutshell TrustWho establishes who you are so that buyers can feel safe buying from you because your information has been verified by a company. It removes a lot of the anonymity from the internet transaction.

As for Retail Suppliers they generally pay less for the gold as they are a middle man to the big companies like IGE.com. Dealing with a well respected company like IGE makes the transaction a lot less likely to be scammed. I have posted on a previous blog my experiences with Pusada.com and how happy I am with that company. Since that post I have sold to them many more times. I don't make as much as I would from a private buyer, but I have never had a pay problem with them, and other than one time one of their accounts was banned for some reason, their pickup was always timely and speedy.

Generally what I do is attempt to find a private buyer for the first couple of days, if I have had no interest (and trust me, I've spent several days bumping to sell on several different forums) I send IGE a message that I have gold to sell to them. Within another day or two I've been contacted and have made the transaction and cheered as I watched the money be transferred into my PayPal account.

What do I feel about the Private Buyer vs. Retail Supplier issue? I think if you have the time and patience to wait for the buyers, and build a steady client list, then by all means get trustwho verified and work on it. Try not to pull too much of your hair out.

If you don't have the time and patience? Dump the gold on the retailers. They're almost always willing to buy what you have, though you may not like the price. Hey what can they say, they want to make some money too, and they know you're probably desperate for the cash.

Gatherbuddy: The ultimate gathering bot

Posted by ghost_soul in , , , , ,

Those of you who have read some of my previous entry's into this blog probably realize that I am a botter. I've used Glider, Pirox, Mimic (which lost me 3 lv80 botting accounts) and GnomeTools (the best bot I've used for leveling and farming mobs(since Glider) so far).

I recently came across a posting on the Glider forums talking about a new gathering bot that Bossland and Hawker from the Glider forums had been working on. I immediately checked it out and when I watched the video I wanted to cheer. It is basically a standalone Yoink!, for those who never used Yoink! with Glider, it is a flying patrol bot that gathers herbs, mining nodes, and gas clouds. This is great for me since I make a lot of my gold from farming ore in Sholazar Basin, and honestly mining it by hand 8 hours a day is a pain in the ass.

Now this bot has a name. It is called Gatherbuddy, like I said before it'll harvest your nodes for you automatically and comes with some great profiles, though when I used mine I saw a long line of other botters all following the same path as me. I would suggest using your own profile. I have been using it for about a week and a half now and have had no major problems with it. It's smooth, rarely crashes for me, and gathers more nodes than I could by hand. The only con's I've noticed so far has been the combat. It uses macro's kind of like GnomeTools, but doesn't use them as intelligently. It also doesn't have the ability to mail your harvested goods out to your mule character, but there are addon's that can take care of that for you, and Hawker has mentioned that automailing is in the long term horizon plan.

Now I know what you're thinking....this is too good to be true, it must cost an arm and a leg. I am not going to lie to you. It does cost a little bit up front, but you'll more than make up for what you spent from the gold you sell (if that's your thing). Gatherbuddy costs 15 Euro's up front (about 22 USD) and after the first month you pay 5 Euro's a month. It is worth every penny, trust me.

Ok so it's a great harvesting bot, but is it secure? Right now no public bot is undetectable by Warden, they are merely undetected. Hawker and Bossland seem to be committed to making sure that Gatherbuddy stays safe, if Warden's offsets change, they shut down the authentication servers for Gatherbuddy. That's much more than can be said for Mimic.

My opinion? Use GnomeTools (or MMOtotus when it releases) to level your toon to 60-80, then gather away and make some money using Gatherbuddy!

Survival Spec&Macros

This is just a carbon copy of my fightbook posted at www.mmognometools.com

This fightbook is still a work in progress, I've used it for about 4 hours and haven't noticed any glaring problems so I thought I would share it with the other hunters here and hopefully see if there are any crazy glaring problems I've missed.

First we'll start with spec, it's just a cookie cutter 56 survival 15 marks spec.

And now the action bar layout.

Feedback is much appreciated!

I'm sure every one of you who have played a MMORPG have come across gold sellers. These are generally stereotyped as the "Chinese Gold Farmer". Granted, most gold farmers come from China. In fact China generated 5 BILLION dollars, yes that's a B for Billion, in RMT (real money transactions) last year alone. There is obviously a high demand for virtual items and people are willing to pay real life cash for it.

In the late 90's I made quite a bit of money selling gold and virtual real estate in Ultima Online but with the changes EA made to the game many players were driven from the game, myself included. With the economic downturn I once again found myself returning to the world of RMT's.

In the past I had supplied IGE with gold and accounts. I knew from experience that it was not one of the fly by night scam trading sites. I contacted them at let them know that I was willing to sell a large amount of gold on my normal World of Warcraft server. Within minutes I was contacted via instant messenger by Pusada.com.

After some initial confusion on my part (I wasn't expecting any responses that quickly) we agreed on the price (about $7 per 1000g) and arranged the first of 3 future trades. Pusada.com generally uses one of two methods when it comes to trading gold. They will either do a face to face trade or they will invite you into a guild and you deposit the money into the guild bank.

What is great about Pusada.com is that they will stay on the instant messenger with you the whole time until you have verified that you have recieved payment. They pay instantly via PayPal so you don't have to worry so much about the security of the transaction.

All in all I have made about $350 in sales to Pusada.com and thus far have been very impressed with the timeliness and sales experience as a whole. I would reccomend Pusada.com to anyone who is looking for a trustworthy buyer of gold.

I do have to note that they are an IGE.com supplier, and while they are American owned and operated and do not spam the trade chats, they do supply an industry giant that is reviled by many for perpetuating the Chinese Gold Farmer stereotype.

Gnometools: A Review

Posted by ghost_soul in , , ,

**This is a review of the botting program Gnometools**
If you don't like botting, don't read it.

By now most players of World of Warcraft are aware of the multitude of programs that duplicate a players actions without the said player being at his computer. These programs are technically against the terms of service for many MMO's as well as World of Warcraft. While many people think these programs are on the same level as hacks, many people have found that by using them they not only get to enjoy the game on their terms, but also have more time for their friends and family. With that out of the way lets get on with the review.

Gnometools is a bot for World of Warcraft. It allows you to play the game without actually being there if you so choose (I wouldn't reccomend afking with it yet). Here is a quick rundown of it's features:

  • Compatiable with Glider profiles
  • Customizable Fight Book lets you decide how your character will fight
  • Easily set up your on profiles so you can farm whatever you like
  • Enjoy real life while you're bot grinds out levels or farms or whatever
All in all it's got the same features as just about every bot that's out there now. Since I've given you a little rundown of it's features I'll go ahead and give it's cons too.

  • Still in development so there are some bugs
  • Not very easy to set up
  • You must know a little about macros and how to play your class to configure your fightbook
  • Can not use flying mounts as of this time
  • Isn't always consistent with the gathering of materiels
Gnometools is a great bot so far, I've leveled a paladin from 1-20 with it. It's not perfect, it's definatly not easy to set up, it's got it's buts; but it is stable and currently undetected by Warden.

Speaking of Warden NO CURRENT BOT IS UNDETECTABLE they are merely undetected by Warden but that can change at a moments notice. I myself think that Gnometools might be a little more secure in terms of detection simply because it's community is smaller than other bots out there and there have been no heavily posted detection methods to it. It is also highly reccomended by many at MMOwned which includes many notable Warden subject matter experts as it's members.

My opinion of Gnometools? Use it if you like, it's a decent botting program and getting better every day. I wouldn't suggest AFK botting with it though at this point unless you have a perfect profile that you know will not get stuck easily or a great fightbook. Here comes a shameless plug, if you're on the GT english forums be sure to check out my Survival Hunter fightbook and rotation and give me some feedback on how it's working.

SevenUseful Addon's for making gold in Warcraft

Posted by ghost_soul

These Addons are safe for use with Warcraft, they are not bots or hacks.

Making gold in World of Warcraft is pretty simple, but if you would like to be more efficant in your gold making there are several addons that will make it much easier for you.

Auctioneer: This is a mod by Norganna. It is an auction house mod that lets you easily post auctions as well as gathers vital data on what items are being sold for on your server. With this mod you can easily search auction data to see what is being sold below market value so that you may snatch it up and resell for a profit.

Gatherer: This is an essential tool for those of use with gathering professions. It marks on the map and radar where prior nodes have been gathered so you don't waste time running circuits in an area that has little or not spawns of whatever you're looking for.

Wowhead Gatherer Database: An addon that has the entire wowhead database of node gathers preloaded. Makes the Gatherer mod more efficient.

Cartographer: A Map modification that allows you to turn off the Fog of War that clouds the map until you've explored the zone. This is a good feature that lets you see where the settlements in the zone you've just entered is.

AtlasLoot: This mod allows you to see what loop drops from what bosses in an instance. Looking for a certain piece of gear but don't know where it drops? This is the mod for you.

Quest Helper: This is a quest log/map modification that places a waypoint on the map pointing you to where you need to go for whatever quest you are on. While I wasn't a big fan of it a couple years ago, it has improved drastically over the last year and a half.

Lightheaded: If your Quest Helper isn't quite giving you the information you need to figure out a quest, this mod will put the comments from wowhead.com right into your quest log.

Sholozar Basin Gold

Posted by ghost_soul in , ,

This particular Method requires that you have a lv80 with 450 Mining and at least 305 Engineering. Epic Flying and Cold Weather Flying is also helpful.

Right now on my server the price of Saronite Ore is 20g a stack while Eternal Fire's sell for about 20g each. I consistently make about 2500g a day by spending about 4 hours circling Sholozar Basin and mining the Saronite and sucking up any clouds I find. Yeah it's not super money and it's a pain to farm that long, but it's 2500g that you probably wouldn't have made in 4 hours before that.

This method will only work for characters who are at least lv50 and have 375+ JC/Chanting

Need to make some quick money to get your cold weather flying, or do you just need some extra chanting mats? This particular method as noted above is for characters who have the Jewelcrafting and Enchant profession. It also requires that you have the Wrath of the Lich King expansion for World of Warcraft. This particular method is best if you have a friend or an alt that is a miner as you'll need Northrend gems such as Sun Crystals or Bloodstones and Crystallized Earth. In a worse case scenario you could purchase the mats on the auction house as the gems tend to be inexpensive now that WOTLK has been out for a few months now. This will eat into your profit or leveling efficancy.

Five Easy Steps to make cheap chanting mats to sell for a profit:
  1. Obtain several stacks of Northrend gems like Sun Crystals
  2. Obtain several Eternal Earths (convert them to Crystallized Earth)
  3. Using the above materials create Sun Rock Rings
  4. Disenchant the rings
  5. Post the mats on the Auction House (No deposit!) or use them to level your chanting.
Using this method will net you quite a bit of Infinite Dust and Lesser Cosmic Essences. These sell on the AH for much more than you'll have put into the mats if you gathered them yourself. Your profit margin will of course by less if you purchased the mats on the Auction House.
